The Benefits of Nature for Mental Health

Research has shown that spending time in nature can:

  1. Reduce stress and anxiety

  2. Alleviate symptoms of depression

  3. Improve mood and self-esteem

  4. Enhance cognitive function and creativity

  5. Boost physical health and immune function

  6. Promote better sleep

These benefits stem from nature's ability to engage our senses, calm our nervous system, and provide a sense of connection to something larger than ourselves.

What to Expect in Eco Therapy Sessions

Our eco therapy sessions will be tailored to your needs and comfort level. They may include:

  • Mindful walks in natural settings

  • Guided meditation in outdoor spaces

  • Nature-based art therapy

  • Gardening or conservation activities

Each session aims to help you develop a deeper connection with nature and, in turn, with yourself.

Eco Therapy Across State Lines

As a licensed therapist in multiple states, I'm able to offer eco therapy services to clients in both states. For out-of-state clients, we can explore virtual eco therapy options, such as guided nature meditation sessions via video call or nature-based homework assignments.

Local Opportunities: Columbus Metro Parks Sessions

For local clients, we have the opportunity to conduct sessions in various Metro Parks. These beautiful natural spaces provide the perfect backdrop for our therapeutic work. We'll choose locations that are easily accessible and suit your comfort level.

Safety in Eco Therapy

Your safety is my top priority. Before each outdoor session, we'll discuss:

  • Appropriate clothing and footwear

  • Sun protection and hydration

  • Any physical limitations or health concerns

  • Emergency procedures

All outdoor locations are carefully selected for safety and accessibility.

Insurance and Payment Options

Eco therapy is an emerging field, and coverage can vary by insurance provider. Here's what you need to know:

  • Some insurance plans may cover eco therapy under general mental health services

  • For plans that don't cover eco therapy, I offer competitive self-pay rates

  • I can provide detailed receipts for potential out-of-network reimbursement

I'm happy to discuss payment options to ensure that eco therapy is accessible to you.
